Foundation Wall

Building the Foundation Wall:

The next step in the Foundation work involved building the 7 course Foundation wall within the trenches. It took approximately 2 weeks to build the Foundation walls.

Foundation is the lowest part of a structure which provides a base for the super-structure. It is often misunderstood that the foundation is provided to support the load of the structure. In fact it is a device to transmit the load of the structure to the soil below.



Once the Foundation walls are built we get a general idea of the room dimensions.




During excavation the labourers dig out the soil and throw it inwards into the room spaces. The mounds of soul are now flattened to get an even surface for the rooms as shown in the picture below.



The top most layer (7th course) of the foundation is 5 inch thick R.C.C. with 8mm and 6mm Torque steel reinforcement. This layer provdes a flat base for the brick work.



This marks the end of the foundation stage.
